The Pachama Awakening The Dreamer – Changing the Dream Symposium
Room N001

A Symposium to help Hong Kong residents respond to global issues such as climate change, poverty and economic crisis. It is an opportunity for everyone to understand what is happening and to consider how we can all play a part in addressing these problems and creating a world that works sustainably for us and for future generations. Participants will explore our culture and how this contributes to these problems in a workshop that uses inspiring video, up-to-the-minute facts and figures and dynamic group interaction. We’ll hear from some of the world’s leading experts on topics as diverse as the current state of the Earth’s biodiversity and the reality of the socio-economic disparity throughout the world. Through this enquiry each individual will discover the unique stand that they wish to take for a more just, sustainable, and fulfilling world.

Gino Yu
Consciousness and the Asia Consciousness Festival

Room N001
Consciousness is a highly interdisciplinary topic that everyone has a first-hand experience with. It is arguably the most challenging topic of science and an area with great value in solving critical issues within our society today. There is an active community of neurobiologists, psychologists, physicists, philosophers, and cognitive scientists that are interested in developing a theory of the underlying biological mechanisms of consciousness, described as the "hard problem" of consciousness. Designers are interested in qualia and phenomenology to establish a basis for aesthetics and "good design." Others in the field of psychology and mind-body medicine are interested in the role of one’s consciousness in both mental and physical health. These practitioners devise practices that facilitate natural healing. Still others are interested in the "evolution" of one’s consciousness and devise models and practices that facilitate one’s "personal evolution" in understanding self, ultimately addressing the big questions such as "who am I" and "why am I here."

Laurance Lucas
The Enchanting Nature of Reality
Room N001

Laurance is a Hong Kong based life change facilitator in his words "The focus of my work can be said to take place on two fronts, the individual and their life purpose, the collective and its evolution. In both instances the substance of reality being creative consciousness at its fundamental level.

The world can be described to some degree by science, especially the new sciences of chaos and the self-organizing intelligence of dynamic systems; but to a greater degree by sociology and psychology (soft sciences). However, to me, the world is more aptly described by its inherently magical nature.

The world is a magical construction; Life is an Enchantment."
